Annual Awards COOLER

The 2006 Awards Cooler was a big success! Attendance shot way up from last year so I think this "Cooler" format works well. I hope everyone had fun. The planners did such a great job with everything. There was so much they planned to do, so unfortunately there was not enough time for everything.

• Wednesday, August 29 - 6pm-10pm
• Brandt-Quirk Park Tennis Facility
• Hot sandwiches from Glenn's Market, fruit salad, drinks. We are asking everyone to bring something to pass. Chips, fruit, salads, desserts...whatever you'd like.
• Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under (under 3 is no charge)
• Please contact Linda Henkel or the WTA email address if you plan on attending. We need a complete list of people by Sunday evening, August 26 so we can purchase the food and drinks.

Junior Tennis Opportunities

This year should be an exciting year for junior tennis opportunities. Bill Reichertz has been working very hard (as have many other people) to create more opportunities for our junior players.

• This year there will be USTA Junior Team Tennis. It is a very exciting addition to junior tennis this year. Start date was June 13. Please click here for all the information.
  
  
• For the 3rd year in a row, there will Junior Social Team Tennis. This is an opportunity for local youth to play social "league style" tennis on Tuesday evenings. Start date is June 12 for ages 12-18. Please click here for all the information.

Our own Bill Reichertz has been chosen as the USTA/Midwest Section Volunteer of the Month! Congratulations to Bill and a big thank you to all the work he has done for our area youth. For all the info, go to this USTA webpage: Volunteer of the Month.

The 3rd Annual WTA Junior Tournament

The 3rd Annual WTA Junior Tournament will be held Saturday, July 28th. Click on the link for all the information and a registration form. This tournament is open to ages 10-18. The registration deadline is July 14th!

There are also plans to have tournaments in other area communities througout the month of July. The above form has those tentative dates as well.

The 2007 Watertown Tennis Camp

The Watertown High School will again hold a tennis camp for area youth this summer. Details and a registration form. Sign up deadline is June 30th!

Brandt-Quirk Tennis Courts

League matches are held at the Brandt-Quirk Park tennis courts located next to the high school near the corner of Endeavour Dr. and Carriage Hill Dr.

Racquet Stringing

I have been stringing racquets for more than 5 years now, but have never officially posted anything. However, I know it is difficult to find a stringer locally so I have decided to officially offer my services this year. There may be other stringers in Watertown, and if they would like their names and numbers given out as well, I can post them on the website and in next year’s mailing. My time is limited, but I usually try to fit people in as soon as I can since I know some people often only have one racquet. I am not a certified stringer or anything, but, like I said, I’ve been doing it for over 5 years and, as far as I know, people have been happy with the results.
